engagement-partyIndian tennis wunderkind, Sania Mirza is to marry childhood friend, Sohrab Mirza.

The couple held an extravagant engagement bash at five-star hotel Taj Krishna, in Hyderabad to celebrate their announcement. But the party was highly guarded, following two recent attempts by crazed male fans to win Mirza’s affection. Reports say that both male fans professed their love for the tennis star outside of her fiancee’s home.

The bride-to-be wore a traditional Hyderabadi bridal dress in golden and pink colours, which was purchased by the Sohrab’s family. Sania will be presented with 11 frocks in keeping with local custom.

Sohrab is a business student and is owner of Hyderabad's Universal Bakers chain. Sania ranks 87th in the WTA and recently won the Australian Open mixed doubles title, pairing with Mahesh Bhupati.
