AVTA 2018 awards South Asian media in a glamorous event
The Asian Viewers Television Awards felicitated the South Asian media fraternity in a glittering event. The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Javed Hussain, who being an Islamic religious minority campaigned for multicultural media and campaigns to be inclusive.
Speaking about his win, Here and Now 365‘s Managing Director Manish Tiwari said: “I have worked with Javed for a short stint of less than 6 months and he was one of the first ones to have a vision of a multicultural Britain reflecting through his work. I would like to congratulate him on his long and successful innings.” While every year AVTA sees the South Asian industry come together, the question still arises if online public voting is the true reflection of a channel’s success. Elaborating further, Manish said: “Public voting almost tends to be fraudulent unless backed by a publicly appointed auditor.”
