London Indian Film Festival

The London Indian Film Festival kicks off tomorrow, on the 20th of June, with support from Film London, Satyajit Ray Foundation, BFI and Cineworld. Judging by the success it had in 2011, we are expecting a very exciting following month for Indian cinema, translating into high quality entertainment for the Indian population of the UK and a glimpse into the evolution of Bollywood cinema for everybody else who is not familiar with it.
The festival will go on until July 5th, and screenings will include the highly acclaimed “GANGS OF WASSEYPUR” starring Manoj Bajpai, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Reema Sen.
Just like in the past two years, the festival also aims to promote new talent from the ethnic community – young actors, directors and the like are about to have the chance to promote their work to a large audience at venues around London.
Here and Now 365 takes this opportunity to salute the boom Indian culture is having on the international scene, and to promote a beacon event for the ethnic community in London. We have already booked our tickets and we shall see you at Cineworld Haymarket tomorrow evening.
In the words of Dibakar Banerjee – “Of course LIFF is fast becoming the most respectable of all Indian festivals amongst the dispora!”
