Development has been one of the key agendas for the Modi-led BJP government in India. In a step towards that direction, 100 cities have been chosen for the Siemens Smart Cities project, wherein Siemens would work with local municipal corporations to build the cities infrastructure in a sustainable manner, thereby making them Smart Cities.

To discuss the issues pertaining to development in India in relation to the Smart Cities project, NDTV 24×7 along with its Group CEO and Executive Director Vikram Chandra organised a conclave in London on the 16th of September at The Crystal – one of Siemens most sustainable buildings – in London.

The panel comprised of Pedro Miranda, Corporate VP, Siemens AG, Sunil Mathur, MD & CEO, Siemens India, Chandrajit Banerji, Director General, CII, Paritosh Gupta, Member of CII National Mission of Smart Cities, Kunal Kumar, Municipal Commissioner, Pune, Prof. Jagan Shah, Director, National Institute of Urban Affairs, Prof. Ricky Burdett, Urban Studies, London School of Economics and Venkaiah Naidu, Urban Development Minister, Republic of India.

What followed was an interesting talk on building the future of India’s urban fabric. The show will be telecast soon, watch this space for more.
