The Indiawallah Powerlist

The High and Mighty Powerlist of Indiawallah’s was unveiled at an exclusive event which was attended by several bigwigs, journalists and scholars.

Powered by the magazine India Gazette the event at the Great Hall, Kings College London touched upon a variety of topics related to India’s representation in the UK. The Powerlist featured the Hinduja’s, Laxmi Mittal, author Pankaj Mishra, director of Amnesty Salil Shetty and artist Anish Kapoor among others. Also making it to the list was Here and Now 365‘s Managing Director Manish Tiwari as a representation of India’s media landscape in the UK.

The central focus of the evening was a panel discussion chaired by Rita Payne, President of the Commonwealth Journalists Association on Who Represents India. The panel included filmmaker Leslee Udwin, author and BBC correspondent Humphrey Hawksley, Global Broadcaster and Chairman of Institute of Diplomacy and Business Stephen Cole, Former Editor of The Statesman and India Correspondent of The Observer Sunanda Dutta Ray, London correspondent of The Hindu Parvathi Menon and Professor of International Communication, University of Westminster Daya Thussu.

With Leslee Udwin’s recent documentary India’s Daughter receiving a mixed reaction from the Indian audience and a ban by the Indian government, it formed the base of how the media represented India in the UK.

Following the interactive session, the mood was set with a Bollywood fusion Jazz performance by Jazz Thali.

Here and Now 365 has always prided itself for promoting multiculturalism and celebrating the ethnic diversity of the UK.
