Diwali Celebrations at 10 Downing Street

This year round I celebrated Diwali at 10 Downing Street, where Prime Minister David Cameron praised us British Indians for our contributions to the UK.

Over the past few years the Indian community in the UK has grown immensely and the Diwali reception proved that we have what it takes to reach the top of the economic scale in Britain.

During the event Mr Cameron said: “India invests more into the United Kingdom than the rest of Europe put together. Some of the projects, some of the businesses underway are thrilling.

“And I think the exciting thing about the relationship is not the past or the present, but it’s the future. It’s the idea that we are going to work together on some of these shared global challenges. And I very much look forward to making my third visit to India as Prime Minister, and seeing Manmohan Singh when I go.”

From my point of view his third visit to India spells good news for those of us who collaborate between the two countries as it means stronger economic ties and a boon for our business.

Present on the occasion were Vedanta’s Anil Agrawal, MP’s Alok Sharma, Keith Vaz, Virendar Sharma, Minister Sailesh Vara whom the prime minister mentioned for his contribution, my good friends from Zee TV, NDTV’s Rahool Joglekar who got an exclusive with the prime minister (add link), Asian Lite Editor Aziz, the Solanki’s from Eastern Eye, Mr. Bhupinder Singh from Panjab National Bank, Ashok Chauhan from the Army.

Here and Now 365 has always prided itself for promoting multiculturalism and celebrating the ethnic diversity of the UK.
